Intercounty Connector (MD 200)
The ICC Contract B is the third segment that was let of the Intercounty Connector (ICC) project, extending from Maryland 97 to US 29 in Montgomery County, Maryland. This $560 million segment of the project consists of approximately 7.0 miles of new, controlled access, six-lane, tolled roadway, with two major interchanges. Rich in wetlands, streams and other natural features, the area traversed by Contract B is considered the most environmentally sensitive stretch of the 18-mile ICC. Consequently, Contract B features numerous special elements to avoid, reduce and mitigate impacts on the natural environment. As part of the MD200 Constructors, a joint venture of Kiewit Southern Co., G.A. & F.C. Wagman, Inc. and Corman Construction, Inc., with Parsons Transportation Group as the lead designer, the staff of Tuhin Basu & Associates, Inc. provided final design services and preparation of construction plans for the following structures along this new 7.0 mile roadway facility:
Bridge 32: New 2-span continuous steel single point interchange bridge carrying Maryland Route 650 (New Hampshire Avenue) over ICC.
Bridge 33: New 5-span continuous prestressed concrete dual structures carrying ICC over Good Hope Tributary
Four Culverts and Endwalls
Overhead and cantilever sign structures along the entire Contract B corridor
