Project: On Call Bridge Design Services, Statewide, SC for SCDOT

Tuhin Basu & Associates, Inc. is currently providing “On Call” bridge design services for various projects in South
Carolina over a three-year period for SCDOT.  The first assignment issued under this contract includes two
replacement bridges in Greenville County, South Carolina.  The bridges include the S-279 Bridge over Mountain
Creek and the S-337 Bridge over Mountain Creek.

The S-279 Bridge over Mountain Creek consists of a three span joint-less bridge with prestressed concrete girders
made continuous for live load.  The substructure units, consisting of mutli-column bents with drilled shaft
foundations, are skewed relative to the centerline of bridge.  Semi-integral abutments have been utilized at both
ends of the bridge.

The S-337 Bridge over Mountain Creek is comprised of a three span continuous concrete flat slab bridge.  The
structure has variable width to accommodate the curved horizontal roadway alignment.  The skewed substructure
units are founded on drilled shaft foundations at the interior bents and steel piles at the end bents.
