Design - Build
Tuhin Basu & Associates, Inc. (TBA) is experienced in working on Design-Build projects,
which involve close coordination with the Contractor, a short design duration, and
simultaneous design and construction efforts. TBA has participated several design build
projects including the Blue Line Extension to Largo, MD for Washington Metropolitan Area
Transit Authority (WMATA) and the Replacement of the Cooper River Bridges, Charleston,
SC for SCDOT.
The Blue Line Extension to Largo, MD for WMATA was a $434 million project that included
the 3.1-mile extension of the line, trackwork and systems for the Blue Line from the existing
Addison Road Station to the proposed station at Largo Town Center in Prince George's
County, Maryland. TBA designed numerous structures as part of this design-build project
including bridges and retaining walls. All of TBA's work was performed in a twelve month
period in accordance with the project schedule.
The Replacement of the Cooper River Bridge for SCDOT was a $543 million project, which
featured the longest cable stay span in North America at 1546 feet and is the single largest
infrastructure project in the State of South Carolina. The replacement bridge project totals
approximately 3 miles in length. TBA designed approach bridge structures totaling 1640
feet in length. All of TBA's work was performed in nine months and construction was
finished approximately 1 year later.
