I-385 Widening and Improvement Project, Greenville, SC
The I-385 Widening Project is located east of the city of Greenville, SC and includes widening 5.8 miles of the existing
route from I-85 to just west of the US Route 276 interchange and the replacement of several bridges and interchanges.
The existing I-385 roadway section is being widened from 2 lanes to 4 lanes in some areas and 4 lanes to 6 lanes in
other areas. Specific bridges to be replaced as part of this project include the Hillside Road and Lowndes Hill Road
overpasses as well as the SC 276, SC 291 and S-273 bridges. The proposed widening effort will help to provide the
necessary future capacity for the I-385 route, enable the route to be operated more safely and efficiently, and reduce
delays and accidents.
US Route 78/52 Widening Project, Charleston County, SC
The US Route 78/52 Widening Project located in Charleston County includes the widening of 3 miles of these existing
routes from I-26 to Goose Creek. The existing US Route 78 is being widened from 2 lanes to 5 lanes from I-26 to US
Route 52 and the existing US Route 52 is being widened from 4 lanes to 6 lanes from Otranto Blvd to Goose Creek. The
project also includes the construction of a new interchange at US Route 78/52 and the construction of a new bridge in
the interchange. Other major construction activities include asphalt paving, grading, new MSE walls and drainage.
